Emergency Medical Services

Keywords:

Emergency medical services are intended for individuals requiring an urgent assessment of their health condition and need for care, as well as for patients who have suddenly and seriously fallen ill or been injured.

Paramedics assess the patient’s condition and, if necessary, begin treatment. If the situation requires a visit to the emergency department, paramedics will transport the patient there or guide them to use another suitable means of transportation, such as a Kela taxi.

Requirements

When you call the Emergency Response Centre, the operator conducts a risk assessment and dispatches the assistance required by the situation. However, not all emergency calls lead to the dispatch of emergency medical services. For example, the operator may advise you to contact on-call assistance or another service. It is also possible that a healthcare professional will call you for more information before dispatching emergency medical services.

User instruction

Call the emergency number 112 when life, health, property, or the environment is at risk or in danger.
