Home alterations
Keywords:Persons with serious disabilities are reimbursed for reasonable costs incurred by home alterations and the acquisition of equipment needed at home. Persons with serious disabilities may also be lent equipment and devices for long-term use at no charge.
Alterations that qualify for reimbursement include widening doors, removing thresholds, building ramps, alterations to the bathroom, installing grab handles and railings, altering the height of fixed furnishings and the lighting. Equipment that qualifies for reimbursement includes lifting and alarm devices as well as other equivalent fixed equipment and devices installed at home.
The wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland offers this service starting from 1 January 2023.
Requirements
The service is intended for persons with serious disabilities. You may be reimbursed for necessary and reasonable home alterations required for managing the daily life as well as costs incurred by acquiring equipment and devices.
