The parental guidance and family counselling provides support in the upbringing, well-being and social relations of your child and teenager as well as your own parenthood. The situation of your child and family will be clarified and an individual plan will be drafted.

The services of the parental guidance and family counselling include, for example, support sessions for children, parents and families, individual psychological examinations, relationship sessions, family mediation, family therapy work and services for families with a baby.

The wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland offers this service starting from 1 January 2023.

Requirements

The parental guidance and family counselling is for families with children between the ages of 0 and 18.

User instruction

Contact the family centre if you are worried about the behaviour or emotional life of your child, if your child has difficulties in social relationships, if you want to get help with interaction problems and conflicts or relationship problems, if you are going through a divorce or there has been a traumatic event or loss in your family.

You can make an appointment or get a referral from an official authority. The service is free of charge. If there is no separate family centre in your municipality of residence, contact your child welfare clinic.
