Guidance on social welfare and health care services

Social services for adults offer help and solutions to problems in daily life. The social services for adults employs social workers.

You can turn to social services in the following situations, for instance:

• challenges in life management
• housing problems and homelessness
• substance abuse problems and mental health problems
• sudden crises, such as divorce or separation, eviction or death
• running into debt and financial management issues
• marginalisation, loneliness

The support of the social services may include, for example, regular meetings with a social worker, social rehabilitation, housing services and mobility support services.

Together with the client, a service need assessment will be made according to the Social Welfare Act in which the life situation will be estimated along with the need for different services.

The wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland offers this service starting from 1 January 2023.

If you are a new customer or if you don't have a social worker, contact the social services or the initial social services of your municipality of residence. If you are currently a client, you can contact your social worker directly.
